Dhikala tourism zone is the most beautiful of all the six zones of Jim Corbett and has abundance of wildlife nestled in it. It is the largest eco-tourism zone which can be called perfect description of intact beauty. Tourists here can set their soul, mind, and body free of worries, stress, and tensions to develop a connection with the nature. Dhikala Safari Zone is situated over 19 kilometres from Ramnagar and here you can enjoy Jeep as well as Canter Safari. Dhikala zone is located on the edge of the Patli Dun Valley and comprises of biggest only grassland Dhikala Chaur with Phulai Chaur. On your visit to this heavenly zone, you can treat yourself with the sight of wild animals like Chital, Wild Elephant, Hog Deer, and different bird species.
It is the zone where you can closely feel the smell of the forest aroma, hear chirping of birds, and smell the soothing earthy scents. You will also cross your ways through areas like Sambhar road, watchtower, crocodile point Gairal, Kamar Patta road, and others. There are several forest rest houses built in Dhikala zone like Sarpduli Forest Rest House, Gairal FRH, Sultan FRH and Dhikala FRH.
Jeep safari is one of the best ways to explore the beauty of the Dhikala zone and get an encounter with the wild animals. This zone operates in a different way than others, as it do not permit of Jeep Safari for the day visitors in this zone. However, one can get the permission for night stay in one of the forest rest houses and enjoy the Jeep safari. The jeep will be with you as long as you are in the rest house. The rest house authority allows booking for utmost three nights of stay in the Corbett National Park. If you want to make a night stay in the rest houses, you have to make advance bookings since it has a high flow of tourists for the night stay and the number of rooms available is limited.
Canter safari includes allowing safari for over 16 people at a time which is a shared safari. Canter is just like a mini bus. Canter safari is allowed to enter Dhikala zone, i.e. middle area of the Jim Corbett. This is a best option to enjoy the beauty of Dhikala zone if you are not having any permit for the night stay at the rest house. It is another mode to enter and experience the centre of Corbett National Park. The safari is performed in this zone in two phases, one is in morning, and other is afternoon respectively. It is important to have permit if you want to enjoy safari in any zone of the Jim Corbett. The Jim Corbett safari in this zone with a canter is regulated under the Project Tiger and you can enter from the either Ramnagar or Dhangari gate.
