Jim Corbett National Park, spread over the districts Garhwal, and Kumaon of Uttarakhand, serves as a perfect destination for wildlife enthusiasts. The National Park was established to protect the endangered species of tigers in India. Jim Corbett is a house to over 488 species of flora (such as Chbilla, Dhak, Bakli, Bel, Semal, Kharpat, Sissoo, Kuthber, Bamboo, and Rohini), 33 species of reptiles, 7 species of amphibians, 7 species of fishes, and 37 species of dragonflies.

    The jungle of Jim Corbett is categorized into over six safari zones which allow the tourists to enjoy the wildlife and spot amazing sights, animals, and mesmerizing flora on the way.

    Safari Zones in Jim Corbett Park

    Bijrani Safari Zone

    This zone is majorly known for its rich diversity of flora and fauna species. You will have to make the entry to the Bijrani zone through the Aamdanda gate. On your Jeep Safari through the Bijrani zone in Jim Corbett, you will huge grasslands; Lush Sal forests, and gives a wonderful view of the forest. Bijrani zone for jungle safari in Jim Corbett is located just 1 kilometre away from Ramnagar and gives shelter to Tigers, Chital, Monkeys, Elephants, and Deer. The ideal time to visit this zone is October to June.

    Sitabani Zone

    Sitabani zone in Jim Corbett is famous due to several temples and different species of birds. Sitabani Zone doesn’t fall under the Corbett Tiger Reserve and is known as the buffer zone. This is more of a safer zone, as there are not many wild animals but offers a great birding experience. However, you can still spot tigers and deer here in this zone. To enjoy, Jeep Safari in this zone, you do not need to have any prior permission.

    Durga Devi Zone

    Durga Devi zone is situated near to the hills and is rich in wildlife beauty and you find a lot of adventure here in this beautiful safari zone. Durga Devi zone is known for elephants and otters that can be seen around the Domunda Bridge. You can also see Mahseer fish in the river of this zone. If you love bird watching, you can come to this zone. Visit here to see the species of Black-Chinned Yuhina, Maroon Orile, Long Tailed Broadbill, and Grey-Headed Fishing eagle and it is best to come here from Mid November to June.

    Dhikala Zone

    Dhikala is one of the largest safari zones in Jim Corbett where you can enjoy a comfortable stay in the forest rest houses or luxury resorts around. This zone is home to major species of fauna including Royal Bengal Tigers, Chita, Spotted Deer, Vulture, Teal, Dove, Tuskers Elephants, Cobra, and others.

    Dhela Zone

    The demand for the Jeep Safari in Corbett for the Dhela zone always remains high as this zone is immensely rich in flora and fauna diversity. You can find different species of flora and fauna like Rohini, Haldu, leopards, sloth bears, and king cobras. This zone has been built just six years ago. This area is suitable for spotting tigers.

    Jhirna Zone is one of the prominent zones for Safari in Jim Corbett located at a distance of 16 km from Ramnagar. Jhirna zone would be suitable if you want to spot some wild bears. Well, you will be safe while you are on Jeep Safari in the Jhirna zone, but it is always better to be cautious to have an encounter with a giant bear emerging from nowhere. Jhirna zone is open for tourists all through the year.

    Details and Procedures Needed for Jungle Safari

    • Full name, age, gender as printed on ID cards along with the booking confirmation amount.
    • Chosen date and timings (morning or afternoon schedule).
    • ID card number (Aaadhar Card, Voter Id, Driving license no. or other suitable government approved id).
    • Advance safari fees that you have to pay earlier.
    • If a permit is confirmed, remember that e-permits are completely non-refundable.
    • Carry your ID with you using which you have made bookings.
    • Indian citizens have to make bookings at least 45 days in advance (if available can also be allowed for a week or day before)
    • Foreigners have to make safari bookings for at least 90 days earlier
    • Foreigners need to share their passport details to book their safari.
    • Permits for safari are served on a first-come, first-serve.
